The Manchester Museum is launching a major exhibition called ‘Breed: The British and their Dogs’, which charts the history of pedigree dog breeding in Britain. It opens on 6 October 2012 and will run until 13 January 2013.
The exhibition will focus on six dog breeds – the Bloodhound, Irish Wolfhound, Borzoi, Pekingese, Bulldog and Collie.
Featured objects include oil paintings, Ming dynasty Chinese vases, medals, taxidermy models, cigarette cards, toys, skulls, photographs and trophies.
