Camera catches friendship between postman and misunderstood dog

The relationship between postal worker and dog may not have the best reputation, but one dog and postman in New Zealand appear to have become best friends.

Michael Collins, the dog's owner, secretly filmed the postman greet his dog and described how the postman carries out the same routine daily - even when there's no post!

Michael said on Facebook, "Everyday whether or not we have mail this mail man always stops to see my dog who is only nine months old."

Michael says it's a refreshing reaction to his large dog who is often misunderstood by others. "He always gets overlooked as a dangerous or unapproachable dog. Maybe because he's big I am not sure.

"This guy here always makes an effort to get off his bike to give him a hug and a pat!"

The video has been posted to Facebook and has already been shared thousands of times. Michael would like the postman to know he appreciates the attention given to his dog. "I'm not sure who to tag on Facebook for him to see this! But thanks man, keep up the good job and you've definitely got a friend waiting for ya!!"

Just want to share something cool! Everyday whether or not we have mail this mail man always stops to see my dog who is only 9 months old. He always gets over looked as a dangerous or unapproachable dog, Maybe cause he's big i am not sure. He doesn't bark at them or growl ( Maybe the odd couple times he barks at people but which dog doesn't ) But this guy here always makes an effort to get off his bike to give him a hug and a pat! I'm not sure who to tag on Facebook for him to see this! But thanks man keep up the good job and you've definitely got a friend waiting for ya!!
