An American Bulldog named George is hoping that with his American roots, Thanksgiving on Thursday might bring him some good fortune.
The four-year-old arrived at Dogs Trust Manchester last year after his owners' working hours sadly meant they couldn't look after him. Now, as he prepares to spend his second Christmas at the Home, staff hope he will find his forever home soon.
Dawn Bishop, Rehoming Centre Manager at Dogs Trust Manchester, said, "As American families get together to enjoy turkey, pumpkin pie, parades and American football on Thursday (24 November) we’re hoping that George’s forever family will walk though our doors so he has something to be thankful for too!
"He is a really loveable lad who found himself without a home after his owners felt they couldn’t give him the exercise and attention he needed due to their working commitments. We would love it if by the time our own celebrations get underway for Christmas, his dream has come true and he has found the forever home he deserves."
George is a sensitive soul so he needs a home in a quiet area with confident owners who will give him the time he needs to settle in and understand he is their canine companion for life. He needs to be the only dog in an adult only home so he can grow in confidence and fulfil his potential.
