Turkish mall opens its doors to homeless hounds as temperature plummets

Every now and then, we hear of an act of kindness that warms our hearts. Following a particularly bad winter storm, the Turkish city of Istanbul was covered in a blanket of snow and concerns were raised about stray dogs who had no where to go and keep warm.

But heartwarming photos shared on social media showed these dogs hadn't been forgotten about. Ali Çelik posted a photo to Facebook which has been shared over 35,000 times, showing a line of dogs inside a shopping mall, sleeping under blankets.

Translated: "I just took this picture as I was walking by ''Atrium Mall''. They put cardboard under and blanket on the street dogs. And a lady was feeding them. I felt warm. There are good people who make life beautiful. When she noticed that I was taking a picture, she did not want to be seen. What a heart."

The Atrium Mall, in the Bakirkoy neighbourhood of Istanbul, allowed dogs to stay inside so they wouldn't have to sleep in the freezing cold. Animal lovers also stepped in to donate food and blankets.
