This National Storytelling Week (29 January to 4 February) is the perfect time to curl up with a good book and your four-legged friend.
Reading to dogs in kennels and pens has even been know to relax dogs and Battersea Dogs & Cats Home have launched an appeal to help their residents live happily ever after. Cute canines Rizzo and Beauty are just two of 390 cats and dogs currently searching for their forever home.
Nine-month-old Rizzo is a princess in need of a knight in shining armour. Staff say the little Staffordshire Bull Terrier's charming personality will have her humans wrapped around her paw. She loves squeaky toys and a run around the garden but with some training, Rizzo will develop into the queen of all she surveys.
Ex-racing Greyhound Beauty (main picture) will weave her magic and make any dog lover's dreams come true with a way of her tail. The four-year-old is described as having a kindly nature and is looking for a quiet home with adults and older children where she can curl up for a snooze.
Rebecca Fisher, Rehoming & Welfare Manager at Battersea says, "Every cat and dog who passes through our doors has their own unique personality. The one thing they all have in common, however, is their desire for a fairytale ending in a home they can call their own."
If you think you can offer Rizzo, Beauty or any of the 390 homeless pets a fairytale ending, go to the Battersea website for more information.
