Will you be my Valentine? Mastiffs and Staffies seeking soulmates

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, Battersea Dogs & Cats Home has made a special appeal for its residents who are looking for love. These affectionate canines have been showing off their softer sides by posing in the Battersea kissing booth.

Battersea’s Head of Canine Behaviour and Welfare, Ali Taylor, said, "There are a lot of misconceptions around Staffies and Mastiffs - many people think they’re tough dogs who don’t have much of a taste for tenderness. But these canines crave affection and attention as much as the next breed and they make wonderful, loyal and loving pets - they’re just waiting for someone to give them a chance. They’re all hoping they won’t be left alone in? the kissing booth this Valentine’s Day. Could you be their perfect match?"

Ruby: Six-year-old Staffie

Radiant Ruby is a clever girl, who already knows ‘sit’, ‘paw’, ‘lie-down’ and ‘roll over.’ She loves cuddles and treats, and she won’t go anywhere without one of her favourite toys. This gorgeous girl came into Battersea as her owner sadly became too ill to take care of her. She’s looking for someone who will shower her with affection and cuddles. Ruby is a country girl and she’s looking for a home away from the hustle and bustle of the inner-city, with a garden where she can stretch her legs.

Missy: Two-year-old Mastiff cross

Marvelous Mastiff-cross Missy has it all – she’s super intelligent, eager to please and friendly to boot. Whoever takes this girl home is going to hit the jackpot. This girl has it all - she’s super-intelligent, eager to please and super friendly to boot. Missy loves to give kisses and cuddles, and she’s a real people-dog who’s bursting with love and affection. Gentle Missy has been unlucky in love so far as, through no fault of her own, this is her second time at Battersea. She was brought into us as a puppy and then came back to us a few months ago because her owner could no longer take care of her. Now this gorgeous girl is looking for her perfect match - and this time she’s hoping it’s forever.

Millie: Six-year-old Staffie

Magical Millie is a terrific Terrier who loves tennis balls, treats and toys - but these come second to her love of people! This snuggly Staffie thrives on attention and just wants to love and be loved in return. Millie adores absolutely everyone she meets and she’s a bundle of fun-loving energy. With her giggly nature and giant smile, she’s sure to brighten up her new owner’s life with cuddles and kisses. She’s waiting under the kissing booth to meet you.

Angel: Nine-year-old Staffie cross

Amazing Angel might be an older gal, but she’s still got loads of love to give. This lovely lady can be a bit shy and sensitive at first, but once she knows you, you’ll be the centre of her universe. Angel was brought into Battersea as a stray, so we don’t know much about her history – but we can see she’s been little over-indulged in the past, so whoever takes her home will have to go easy on the snacks for a while! Despite her age, Angel’s still got plenty of get up and go, so she’s looking for a home with a garden where she can run around to her heart’s content. This heavenly lady is hoping Cupid’s arrow will strike soon. After all, who could resist her gorgeous Staffie smile?
