Formula One star and dog-lover Mark Webber took time out from his busy schedule on 7 August 2012 to make a special ‘pit stop’ at national charity Hearing Dogs for Deaf People in what is its 30th anniversary year.
Mark took part in one of the weekly puppy classes alongside other volunteer puppy socialisers, and saw how a fully trained hearing dog alerts deaf people to a range of sounds, including the door bell, alarm clock and smoke alarm during a special demonstration.
Rob Panting, from Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, said: “Mark is a well-known dog-lover, and with Formula One drivers exposed to tremendous levels of noise, the work of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People really does have a number of close ties to him – we thoroughly enjoyed his company.”
