Jilly, a Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen (pictured right), was voted Best in Show yesterday at Crufts. It was Jilly’s second time at a Crufts Best in Show final after narrowly missing out on the title in 2011, when she was awarded Reserve Best in Show.
Jilly’s breeder, Gavin, said: “I can’t express how I feel; it’s like a wave of emotion. It hasn’t sunk in and I am sure it won’t for quite some time.
“We could only dream of this. Jilly is full of character and an absolute pleasure, just such a great dog.”

In the Scruffts Family Crossbreed of the Year competition, a seven-year-old mongrel called Becky (pictured above)  from County Down, Northern Ireland took the title.

And in the heart-warming Friends for Life competition, three-legged dog Haatchi was crowned the winner.
After a bad start in life, Haatchi (pictured above, with Owen) was rehomed by the family of seven-year-old Owen Howkins, who has a rare genetic condition called Schwartz Jampel Syndrome. Owen was withdrawn and painfully shy, but now has a new lease of life thanks to his beloved dog.
Owen said: “I am so happy. Thank you to everybody who has voted for me. I am glad that Haatchi is in my life because he makes me smile all the time and is my best friend.”
