Brainy Dogs is a unique project whereby rescue dogs from the Felixstowe Blue Cross are trained, by prisoners from Hollesley Bay Prison, to become companion dogs to people with a neurological condition – and it has been nominated for a lottery award.
Brainy dogs become someone’s friend and confidant, giving them a purpose to get up in the morning, partake in a healthier lifestyle and become part of a social network again via dog walking. Not only are dogs great companions but they are also great ice breakers and can help owners meet new people. They also provide a confidence boost and give their new owners something to be proud of and talk about.
Voting closes 24 July 2013. For more details visit www.lotterygoodcauses.org.uk/project/brainy-dogs or tel. 0844 836 9698.
