Twelve-year-old Lottie Wilcocks from Ripponden is fundraising for Dogs for the Disabled in tomorrow’s London Marathon Mini Wheelchair event.
Lottie has spina bifida and hydrocephalus, and Labrador Velvet has turned her life around since she arrived two years ago, helping Lottie with practical tasks and giving her independence. The pair were ‘Friends for Life’ finalists at Crufts this year too.
Lottie trains with Rochdale Harriers and Manchester Kestrels and hopes to one day emulate her heroes Hannah Cockcroft and David Weir in winning Paralympic gold medals for Great Britain.
Says Lottie: “I’m raising money for Dogs for the Disabled because they do an amazing job and without them Velvet and I would not be the fantastic team we are. Every penny helps. Woof! Woof!”
