Everything is better with dogs – including Opera.
Opera Australia held a doggie day in Sydney Harbour on Sunday 3 April, welcoming two and four-legged Opera fans alike.
“It’s time for the pooches to enjoy a dazzling aria, pucker a pose for the photo booth and if they’re game, dust off their glad rags for a dress-up competition,” Opera Australia wrote. “Not wanting to neglect all the humans in attendance, there’ll be a dress-up box filled with costumes from various Opera Australia productions, delicious fresh coffee available for purchase and tickets to Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour for a lucky few.”
Of course, dog owners wasted no time in dressing up their dogs. Some of them looked mildly confused…
… While others clearly loved it.
There was some rivalry among contestants…
… But it was all forgotten when humans and canines alike were treated to a performance of Nessun Dorma, sung by Opera Australia’s principal artist Simon Kim. It was so good some pooches couldn’t resist singing along.
We’re sure he tried his best!
