Meet Ernie – proof of how perfect a Sprocker can be. The Sprocker Spaniel has seen a huge serge of popularity over the last few years: a lot of reasoning behind this is a general consensus that getting away from a pure pedigree dog offers potential owners less risk of hereditary illness. But does it? Uggeshall Kennels based in North Suffolk specialises in Sprockers bred from pedigree health tested English Springers and Working Cockers. Recently both the Animal Health Trust based in the UK and Optigen based in the US have consented to health test ‘Ernie’, Uggeshall Kennels resident chocolate Sprocker and working stud.
Both of Ernie’s parents are health tested, his Father is a gallant handsome gold Cocker and his Mother a liver and white Springer Spaniel both with fine pedigrees. The results are fantastic news! Ernie has tested clear for PRA Cord 1 and Fucosidosis (the Springer element) and Prcd mutation test for PRA and FN (the Cocker element) making Ernie the first health tested Sprocker in the UK!
