London-based charity, The Mayhew Animal Home in Kensal Green, has received the Animal Charity Team of the Year Award at the PetPlan and Association of Dogs and Cats Homes (ADCH) Animal Charity Awards. The awards, celebrated in Birmingham’s Hilton Metropole on 20 April, are meant to celebrate “the incredible work, dedication and commitment of animal charities and not-for-profit organisations across the UK, Ireland and Channel Islands and the charity teams, volunteers and employees that go above and beyond in their mission to improve animal well-being”.
“We’re delighted to win this award,” The Mayhew’s team said. “It means so much for The Mayhew to receive this recognition, especially as we’re celebrating our 130th year this year. We’re just so proud of the whole team at The Mayhew and want to say a big ‘thank you’ to PetPlan for making this brilliant event happen.”
PetPlan’s Head of Marketing, Isabella von Mesterhazy, said, “We’re delighted to announce the deserving winners of the Animal Charity Awards 2016. All finalists and winners should feel very proud of this great achievement; it’s testament to their hard work in furthering the wellbeing of the animals in their care. Each and every one of the individuals and teams nominated go above and beyond in their mission to improve animal welfare and it’s brilliant to be able to celebrate them through these awards.”
Established in 1886, and registered as a separate charity after 60 years as part of the RSPCA, The Mayhew Animal Home has made it its mission to help animals in need through “a range of community-based animal care, education and welfare projects”.
