Tune into a new series tonight at 8pm on Channel 4 and watch dogs change lives.
Specialist dog trainers Nando Brown and Jo-Rosie Haffenden will introduce us to six people with mental, physical or neurological disabilities and their new, personal support dogs. The three-part series will follow them on their intensive 12-week training journey from homeless rescue dogs to support dogs and much-loved companions.
Nando hopes the ground-breaking series will provide new opportunities for people who feel they may benefit from an assistance dog but do not necessarily meet the criteria. Speaking about the series, Nando says, “Rescue dogs are capable of doing this kind of work and they are often in rescue because they are too intelligent and have too much drive. It makes them perfect for this. From the dog’s side, it also shows rescue dogs are not damaged goods.
“Some of the things these dogs can do are amazing and life-changing. At the end, I’m hoping to point them towards further training like Dog Aid, so they might become fully qualified assistance dogs.”
