As the Wimbledon tournament gets underway, Dogs Trust Merseyside have launched a rehoming appeal for Raffa, in the hope that someone will rank him their Number One.
Despite his famous tennis namesake Rafael Nadal being absent from the competition, Raffa still hopes this fortnight serves up an ace home. The seven-year-old loves to run as much as the Spanish champion but isn’t quite as fearless and definitely doesn’t like being in the spotlight.
Jake Flatman, Assistant Manager at the Huyton Rehoming Centre, says, “Raffa is a sporty chap who likes his exercise and unfortunately his owners felt they couldn’t give him enough to keep him happy and healthy, so he came to us a couple of months ago. This is the second time he has been with us as he was originally handed over to us as a tiny puppy as part of an unwanted litter so he didn’t have the most settled start in life. Now he’s a handsome adult dog who is all set to head off to his forever home.
“He is really playful and affectionate so he definitely has his winning ways but he can be quite nervous so we are doing lots of training with him and gradually building up his confidence. He definitely has his fans here at the centre but we know that when he is at the heart of a loving forever home he will fulfill his true potential.”
Raffa needs an adult only home with owners who would be happy to visit the centre a few times to build a bond with him and who would continue his training so he can become the best he can be.
If you think you can offer Raffa the home he deserves, please contact the team at Dogs Trust Merseyside on 0300 303 0292 or visit the centre at Whiston Lane, Liverpool, L36 6HP.
