The Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary is a ‘forever foster home’ in the States where older dogs – sadly, not the kind of dogs that get adopted easily! – can spend their twilight years in a loving home. The sanctuary itself, located in Mount Juliet, Tennesse, cares for about 50 oldies, while over 150 are being looked after in other foster homes.
While providing a lifetime home for senior dogs, The Old Friends Dog Sanctuary strives to “raise awareness of the joys and challenges of living with aging dogs”.
“While never forgetting where these dogs have come from, we want to emphasize the positive aspects of their life in retirement,” the Sanctuary’s statement reads. “We do not concern ourselves with the quantity of time that they have left, rather the quality of the life that we can provide them for that time.”
The Sanctuary is also very active on social media, showing just how much fun life can be for golden oldies – and it’s no surprise that they have plenty of followers!
