To celebrate National Dog Day on Friday 26 August, Anne Hathaway’s Cottage & Gardens will be hosting a dog-friendly Shakes-paws Picnic.

From 10am to 4pm visitors are encouraged to bring their dogs along for a day of family fun, treats and walkies. The Guide Dogs team will be there with demonstrations and fun family activities. There will be treats on arrival provided by Purina UK, children’s games, and opportunities for great walks around the gardens and woodland. Plus there will be a dog selfie station and mini dog show. Itinerary for the dog show is as follows:

  • 11am Waggiest tail
  • 11.15am Longest ears
  • 11.30am Smiliest dog
  • 11.45am Best dog and child handler
  • 12noon   Best biscuit catcher

Ruth Warner, Head of Visitor Experience at the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust comments, “Dogs are always welcome visitors to the gardens at Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, but also to Shakespeare’s Birthplace and Hall’s Croft.
