Pretty pooches with model qualities are being sought after for a series of fashion shows at the upcoming Cheshire pet extravaganza.

Lynn Spruce, owner of Mutzmacs, is looking for the Kate Moss and David Gandy of the canine world to strut their stuff on the catwalk at the Pets on the Hill event on Sunday 25 September from 10am at Kelsall Hill Equestrian Centre on Organsdale Farm.

The four-legged fashion show will take place at a family event organised by the independently-owned Willows Veterinary Group, known for its successful Pets in the Park event.

Lynn set up her handmade canine clothing business a decade ago when she got her dogs Cassie and Paddy, and was disappointed by the quality and cost of doggie fashion. Lynn said, “I am aiming to stage three fashion shows during the day and it would be lovely to have dogs of different sizes and breeds to take part. I don’t mind what type of dog they are. They all have star qualities but the crucial thing is that they need to be good with people and with other dogs. That’s the most important thing.

“Apart from that, as long as they don’t mind trying on some of my wardrobe, which have been specially designed with their comfort in mind, then the job is pretty much theirs. It doesn’t matter what size they are either because I can make something to fit them if I know in time that they will be on the catwalk. That’s why I am keen to hear from dog owners as soon as possible.”

Lynn, who now has four dogs, receives commissions to make doggie outfits for weddings and has even been called upon to help a loveable Bulldog called Boda who would scratch his chest through separation anxiety. Lynn developed a custom-made bib made of soft material which was comfortable for the dog to wear and protected it from incessant scratching.

Lynn’s fashion shows will be just one of the attractions at Pets on the Hill. David Crane, Company Spokesperson for Willows Veterinary Group, said, “Pets on the Hill promises to be a fantastic family day out with lots to do.

“There will be a massive fun dog show, an exotics tent where children can come face to face with tarantulas and snakes, ferret racing, training and agility displays and lots of pet related stalls.

“It’s our way of reaching out in to the community and celebrating the wonderful contribution which our pets make to our lives.”
