On 27 October, Twitter announced it’s going to end its short-form video sharing service Vine as part of its plan to trim down costs.
“Nothing is happening to the apps, website or your Vines today. We value you, your Vines, and are going to do this the right way,” Twitter said in a statement. “You’ll be able to access and download your Vines. We’ll be keeping the website online because we think it’s important to still be able to watch all the incredible Vines that have been made. You will be notified before we make any changes to the app or website.”
The news saddened millions of viewers, including many dog lovers: dogs feature in many of the most popular six-second-long looping video clips. And it is easy to see why: they celebrate everything about dogs. Their silliness…
… Their singing skills…
… Their love for food…
(And for us…)
… Not to mention that stubborn streak dog owners are familiar with.
What is there not to love?
