Rebecca Baker, at Dogs Trust Bridgend, has successfully completed the 48 hour kennel challenge and raised more than £1,000 for the homeless hounds in the charity’s care.

Rebecca lived the life of a Dogs Trust dog by spending two days in a kennel at the Pen-y-Fai rehoming centre. Her original target of £500 has more than doubled, raising a total of £1051.66.

As well as funds, the assistant manager was also hoping to raise awareness of the dogs’ plight. We may think 48 hours is a long time but the average wait for a forever home is 39 days.

Rebecca says, “The experience was very rewarding, but also quite tough! The dogs were very well behaved at night time but I did struggle to sleep because of being in a different environment.

“I was looked after extremely well but it has opened my eyes to a dog’s life in kennels. I was overwhelmed with the amount of support I received, and it was amazing to not only raise over the target, but to double it! I can’t thank supporters enough for encouraging me during the challenge.”
