Not all animals fit the ‘perfect mould’, but as pets, their special qualities can still shine through.

FRONTLINE Pet Care’s annual ‘Real Pet’s’ awards invited their six winners to take part in a special photoshoot, with TV stylist Gok Wan on-set to primp and preen them.

A video from behind the scenes has been released showing how much the felines and canines are valued, as we hear from the owners about how it feels to see their companions working the cameras.

Gok Wan joined Winston, a blind ginger cat; Carlos, a rescue tabby cat; Claude, a cat who donated blood to save his sister’s life after she was hit by a car; Oni, a rescue Great Dane with missing toes; triple-amputee Otto, a Yorkshire Terrier cross; and Liberty, a Greyhound.

Otto, a Yorkshire Terrier cross, was hit by a car but his owner says he’s now “such a fun dog”

The winners were selected from over 8,000 entries, and embody what it means to be perfectly imperfect.

Comments Gok, “I’ve spent most of my career celebrating real women, and I had a ball doing the same thing for this gorgeous and loveable bunch. It was heart-warming to go through all the entries and see how many pet owners go behind the campaign to champion their perfectly imperfect companions. It goes to show that there is no such thing as the perfect pet, they’re all stunners in my eyes!”
