As England wins their second game of the World Cup, a football-loving pooch is hoping for a successful summer too.
Zen, an eight-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier cross, loves nothing more than a kick about in the fields of the National Animal Welfare Trust (NAWT). He came to the centre in September 2016 but his canine carers at the NAWT’s Watford branch soon noticed his favourite pastime.
Centre Manager Jackie De Friez said, “Zen is such a clever lad and he’s been so unlucky whilst in our care – he’s been on and off reserve and otherwise overlooked.
“He’s a sweetheart who just needs someone to take a chance on him, and he loves a game of footie.
“To us, all of the animals in our care are champions and the ultimate goal is finding them a forever home.
“So if you’re looking for somebody to share your sofa with this World Cup, come down to the centre and meet Zen.”
