I’ve just rehomed a Wirehaired Vizsla and never had a dog with a coat like this before. What sort of brush should I buy for grooming her and would she need professional grooming?

Stuart Simons advises…

These are beautiful dogs – I’m very keen on this breed. To be honest, they don’t need a huge amount of grooming. They don’t shed a lot. I would tend to the coat as and when needed with a bristle brush and pluck any stray hairs when necessary. You could use a FURminator if she sheds more than an average amount, but take care not to take any of that lovely harsh top coat out with it. That’s what keeps the coat weatherproof and ensures it stays that lovely colour. I would avoid conditioning shampoos on this dog too.
