A Papillon has taken the title of Crufts Best in Show for the first in the show’s 128-year history.

Dylan, a Papillon from Belgium had already won the Toy Group title earlier that same day, before being crowned Best in Show at last night’s final. Almost 21,000 dogs competed over the four days for one of seven finalist places.

The two-year-old, whose show name is Ch Planet Waves Forever Young Daydream Believers, returned to the Resorts World Arena at the NEC in Birmingham with his owner and handler, Kathleen Roosens.

Prior to winning Best in Show, proud owner Kathleen said, “Dylan is such a star – he is the star of our family! I was so shocked the judge came to us. He is our Dylan the villain, whenever he goes out he comes back covered in mud! My dad won the Toy group in 2009 and I am so excited that I have now too.”

Reserve Best in Show went to Mike, a Basset Griffon Vendeen (Petit) from Wallingford, Oxfordshire who won the Hound Group title with his owner and handler, Sara Robertson.
