A new social media challenge with the aim of feeding 250,000 healthy meals to UK dogs in rescue by the end of summer, has been launched – and you can get involved!

Paws.com, a pet wellbeing startup, has challenged dog lovers to show their pup chowing down on their favourite meal. For every mealtime moment shared online, Paws will feed a healthy meal to a shelter dog in the UK.

To get involved, you need to:

  1. Share a video, photo or GIF of their pup ‘chowing down’ their dinner to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.
  2. Mention #BuyFoodGiveFood and @Paws
  3. Nominate and tag 3 friends to keep the ‘bowl’ rolling

Neil Hutchinson, Founder of Paws, says, “In 2018 we launched a mission to tackle pet abandonment. Buy Food, Give Food is an initiative which helps the UK’s brilliant independent dog shelters, many of whom struggle to get funding and afford healthy meals for their dogs. We’re hoping that the Chow Down Challenge will spread the word even further about these unsung heroes, and we can’t wait to see what the nation’s dog-loving community has to share. We know they will make a difference to those all-important meal donations, these amazing shelters and their brave dogs.”

Paws.com’s Buy Food Give Food initiative has already helped feed over 100,000 dogs with their subscription service. Now, with their new initiative, they hope to bring that number up to 250,000.

Head over to the website for more information on their shelter work. Stephanie Wenban, Paws Vet, says, “Dogs arriving in shelters can often have a range of issues, both physical and emotional, so it’s sometimes easy to overlook the importance of a good diet. Poor nutrition can lead to an increased susceptibility to disease, skeletal abnormalities, skin disease and even cancer. By donating high quality and nutritious food to shelters, we are able to improve the health and wellbeing of the dogs and allow shelters to focus their resources and rehoming efforts. Healthy dogs are happy dogs who are more likely to be rehomed!”
