Dog running

Four legged friends can join in the fun at the South of England’s Agricultural Society’s Autumn Show this October.

Taking place at South of England Showground in Ardingly, West Sussex on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th October 2019, the Autumn Show & Game Fair is a perfect weekend event for dog lovers of all ages.

Canine companions can take part in agility courses, gundog scurries and terrier racing plus there’s gundog displays, meet and greets with hounds, rare terrier and gundog breeds to see and plenty  of other doggie-inspired activities and shopping stands to treat the furry members of the family and get those tails wagging.

The event as a whole celebrates the joys of the countryside, rural pursuits and 2019’s harvest featuring a whole host of ‘have a go’ countryside sports and activities and mouth-watering food and drink stalls.

Iain Nicol, CEO of The South of England Agricultural Society which organises the show, said, “Our Autumn Show & Game Fair is centred around the joys of countryside living and sporting pursuits, and dogs are a huge part of that culture. We all enjoy taking our canine companions out for countryside walks but many of us forget their history – they traditionally became our domesticated pets as working dogs, helping on the farm or hunting prey for food etc. It’s fantastic at this event to see just what our dogs can do. We couldn’t imagine this event taking place without including them.”

There’s plenty for humans to enjoy too, such as clay pigeon shooting, fly fishing, falconry, archery and axe throwing, or admire the various horticultural displays.

Regardless of age, everyone is sure to love Jonathan Marshall’s world famous falconry on horseback display, and the popular pumpkin trail will be back, offering children a fun journey around the showground, stopping off to see the rabbits, Sussex cattle and other farm animals, traditional funfair, pony rides, kite flying and mini steam train.
