Dotty about dogs? Discover Dogs returns for 2022 – and we have five pairs of tickets to give away!
London’s biggest dog event, Discover Dogs, is returning to ExCeL London on 15-16 October, giving visitors the opportunity to meet and greet dogs of all shapes and sizes, so they can find the right breed for their lifestyle, watch clever canine displays and shop for doggie delights.
Organised by the Kennel Club, Discover Dogs features hundreds of different breed stands so visitors can learn more about their favourite four-legged friends from dedicated experts, find out more about how to buy a dog responsibly, and how to look after their new canine companion. With the opportunity to meet breeds from around the world – like the playfully active Portuguese Podengo and the Japanese cousin of the Pomeranian, the small and gentle Spitz – it’s the perfect day out for those who are dotty about dogs.
Other features of the show include the Young Kennel Club ring where members will be showcasing all the canine activities the younger generation can get involved in, alongside other old favourites, such as the popular Scruffts crossbreed competition, displays from the Metropolitan Police dogs and puppies, and exciting agility competitions.
Visitors can also meet some of the British and Irish vulnerable native breeds, like the Skye Terrier and Otterhound, and learn about the issues these historic breeds can face, and why it’s important to raise their profile.
Elsewhere, Kennel Club breed rescue organisations will be showcasing their hard work and successes in rehoming breed rescue dogs on the Kennel Club stand, where visitors can find out about rescue dogs looking for their forever home and find out more about rescuing.
Vanessa McAlpine, events executive at the Kennel Club, said, “Discover Dogs is a fun event for anyone who’s dotty about dogs! It’s the perfect opportunity to meet hundreds of different dogs, of all shape and sizes, and to find out which breed is best suited to your lifestyle, if you’re thinking about becoming an owner.
“But the show isn’t just for those considering a canine – we welcome dog lovers of all ages to come along and find out about the work of the Kennel Club, such as breed rescue organisations who do fantastic work for dogs who aren’t as fortunate as others. You can watch amazing doggie demonstrations and displays and with over 100 trade stands, selling anything and everything for dogs, it’s one of London’s most unique events and provides something for everyone – including our four-legged friends!”
